Speaker's bio:

臺灣大學人文社會高等研究院院長、外文系特聘教授。史丹福大學文學博士，哈佛大學博士後研究。曾任中華民國比較文學學會理事長、臺北市文化局局長等。2018 年獲科技部「傑出研究獎」。著有《愛與解構》、《美麗新世紀》，《紅樓夢的補天之恨》等書。目前正撰寫《台灣電影中主體的僵局與超越》、Deleuze and Taoism等書。

Abstract:

「聖戰」的觀念因為當代伊斯蘭的基本教義組織而聞名於世，然而其源頭卻是猶太教。聖戰的觀念來自於一神教的崛起。在此之前的希臘或其他信仰多神教的地區，諸神間的傾軋與鬥爭，通常明顯的反映了人性的複雜，而一神的主宰則將世間一切簡化成上帝與魔鬼之間的鬥爭，聖戰的觀念遂因應而生，而聖戰的實踐便也毫無懸念。故猶太敎、天主教、新教、伊斯蘭便可謂有志一同的不時對魔鬼進行聖戰，雖然最可懼的魔鬼常常就是其他三教。而近兩千年來實踐聖戰最積極的便是西方文明。西方大大小小的宗教戰爭可謂不計其數，而且對內對外的多數衝突及戰爭皆具有聖戰的明示或暗示，甚至於其四百年的全球殖民史也都帶有聖戰的影子。故堪稱有史以來最慘烈的戰爭--第一及第二次大戰--都發生在當時貎似人類文明最進步的歐洲，可謂良有以也。故雖然戰爭亦有人性的根源，但文化面的影響似不下於前者。而若欲對戰爭衝動的文化面有所了解，恐怕必須嚴肅面對「聖戰」的觀念。
