Abstract:: 近年英語系（或以英語為主的外文系）面臨了重大的衝擊。長期以來，坊間總是把英文系視為「學語言」的系，加上民間普遍彌漫著語言只是「工具」的偏見，以致這個系被不少人認為本質上是「應用科系」。當英語逐漸因全球化而形成日漸普及的假象後，遂產生了英語系有無必要存在的問題。自政府開始推動所謂的「雙語政策」（其實是全英授課）以來，英語教學部份似乎打了一劑強心針，然而面對AI的強勢崛起，甚至在十到十五年之內，一切訊息交流（從觀光到談判）及知識傳遞（從日常到學術）都將以AI翻譯進行時，在不久的將來是否仍需如現在一樣「普學」英語或任何外語（更遑論以犧牲第一語言及教學品質的方式以全英授課學英語），其實已經是一個無法迴避的問題。在AI行將介入一切人類活動的態勢下，學外語這件事情應該如何重新看待？而外語系的教學內容及方法又應該如何因應轉型？目前所看到的危機是否醞釀了新的轉機？這個論壇邀請到臺灣多所重要大學英外語系的代表，將針對這些議題進行最具前瞻性的探討。
